Living, Forgiving

I know what it feels like

Unforgiveness“…a strong vice

Holding my heart in its steely grip,

Immobilizing me,

Making it difficult to move forward.

Although long gone,

I would still feel the sharp pain

like it was yesterday.

But today I’m tired of the same spot,

tired of holding on.

I’m ready to let this go

No longer sure why I so tightly held on.

So, I’m here to let you know this –

I release it.

I release you.

I’m moving on.

Hello Forgiveness!

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

– Louis B. Smedes

Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future. Louis B. Smedes

  1. There should be a ‘like’ button on this page. Not forgiving others actually deprive us of todays joy. It’s like other people living rent-free in our hearts.

One thing I learnt about forgiving and not holding grudges is that it takes a whole lot of unnecessary weight and baggage off me.

    Nice write-up

    1. Thanks for always leaving comments, Frankopolo. 🙂 I will look into that ‘like’ button.
